Me esforcé mucho.
After finishing the first part of Leonardo Espinoza’s course, I decided to try making a cake. I chose Red Velvet because my daughter loves it very much, and we also have a family celebration, which is another reason. I changed the exterior look by deciding to make it more colorful and used Swiss meringue buttercream for the frosting. I tried very hard. I don’t really have all the tools yet, but I think for a first time, it’s not bad. And I decided to solidify my technique for French macarons and made a batch of them.

Welcome, Lyubomira! Your first cake already shows a lovely sense of color, and the macarons have a nice, even finish. I’d keep working on smoother buttercream sides and more controlled drips, but even as it is, it looks like something straight out of Alice’s dream. I love it! What brought you to Scoolinary, and which pastry skills would you most like to improve next?

@soldamiani thank you very much!
I want to learn how to make puff pastry and Viennese pastries from it. Unfortunately, right now it’s terribly hot in my country, and I don’t have a special room with controlled temperature for the butter. I hope to try again from September onwards.For now, I’m trying out French desserts and techniques.

@lyubomirat That sounds like a smart plan, Lyubomira. Puff pastry is much easier to control once temperatures drop. French desserts are a great focus meanwhile. Are you into vegan Viennoiserie too? We’ve just launched a course on it, you can see it here: https://www.scoolinary.com/courses/vegan-viennoiserie 😊
