• Christmas is approaching and with it the family meals, and snacks, dinners, breakfasts… and conversations like: kid, stop it, I’m going to burst from eating so much… who are we meeting this Saturday? Oh, we also have a plan for Sunday… 😂😂😂

Around this time we start preparing croquettes for my brothers, who have dinner at my house on Christmas Eve and love them. And it is also time to experiment, to be able to bring tasty treats to our guests and hosts.

Today I wanted to experiment with the Roscón de Reyes, but from the recipe of the Pan de Muerto by Paloma Ortiz. The ingredients of this recipe are the same that I usually use to make the Roscón, but after tasting the pan de muerto, I thought it was magical, subtle, elegant and that it lasted longer tender than my roscón.

As I love citrus flavors, I added a little bit of orange essence to the dough. I also caramelized orange peel cut into small strips and used them to decorate along with sliced almonds and sugar with a drop of orange blossom water.

I have divided the dough in two and I have frozen one, with the shape already made before baking, to see how it looks thawing and baking it later.

I’ll let you know. This one is delicious!
