It’s not that I went out to dinner expressly to celebrate having reached one more level… it has squared like that because today I was in Madrid, but I loved the coincidence.
The problem is that I completely punctured. I knew I was not going to an orthodox Japanese restaurant, but to a casual fusion restaurant, I had read good reviews… And it was somewhere between bad and worse, in that range. Regular raw material, powerful sauces to cover. Everything was very poor… But young, handsome and modern waiters and waitresses, modern decoration, location in an area where it is more important to be seen than to eat well.
In the photos, the dishes look nice, but they were really disappointing: a dashi oyster with tuna, a butterfish tartar, two pieces of niguiri (bull and eel)? For another dish, I didn’t even take a picture 🙁
did it happen to you?

I’m so sorry that dinner was not a failure and the dishes look good. Sometimes that happens and believe me you are not the only one. It happened to us a year ago in the mountains. We went to eat at a place that had great reviews and then it turned out to be a disaster from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. And sometimes, all that glitters is not gold😟

Haha now it’s official! We’ve reached the point where restaurants can’t keep up with us! 😄 Remember when you told me that my standards had gone up because of Scoolinary? Well, welcome to the club, Sous Chef!
Even a disappointing dinner can’t spoil the joy of your new badge… congratulations again, Beatriz! You’ve truly earned it. ✨ Now make those dishes and show them how to do it right! 😁1-

@lanamihajlovic totally agree…. My husband told me that too.
The curse of good cooking has fallen on us 😂😂😂😂Level:Executive Chef

@lanamihajlovic I thought the same thing when I read Bea’s post. I think they are ready to open their own.

Sorry to hear that your dinner was not as good as expected. I have had the same thing happen to me. We went out to a local restaurant that had recently opened. It was a beautiful setting, great reviews, wonderful service but the food let it down. It all looked nice, presented wonderfully but the ingredients just didn’t meld together at all. I do believe that the chefs were very inexperienced and trying too hard to be trendy.

¡Hola Sous Chef Bea!
