From Cantabria to the Basque Country, where eating is a very serious business. The gilda is an institution that I love among the pintxos

@lanamihajlovic your words make my day 🥰🥰🥰🥰. Antonio has told it below, it’s a pintxo that was so named the year the movie, Gilda, was released. Because like Rita Hayworth, it was a bit spicy.

Beatriz, did you know that the gilda originated in San Sebastian, in the Bar Vallés, around 1948? A customer put an olive, a piparra and an anchovy on a toothpick and named it “Gilda” in honor of the Rita Hayworth movie released that same year, since the appetizer was “green, salty and a little spicy”.

Beatriz.

Beatriz, I’m getting such an education on Spanish cuisine today — I even had to look up what a gilda was! Now that I know, I can see why it’s such a beloved pintxo. Your photos make it look even more tempting.
