      This I share with you today… maybe it’s not an #epicfail but just a #microfail 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

In April, for the #platingchallenge, I posed several dishes. I wanted to make one of them with casquería, to show that this raw material can also be beautiful. I made an ear ingot. I initially cooked pig’s trotters and pig’s ear, and with each one I prepared an ingot. The one with the ear was perfect, but the pig’s trotters, despite having been prepared in a press, was not compact and when sliced and marked in the pan it crumbled. I did not incorporate it into the challenge dish, but, of course, those days we ate the trotters ingot at home. I’ll share with you how: one day with fried potatoes, and another with sautéed mushrooms. Although it wasn’t a perfect dish… these trotters were delicious!

This also happened to me once with a pork trotter roll that fell apart all over

This is not a microfail… it’s a great dish with soul! I love that you have opted for offal, and that you tell it as it is: with humor, in detail and with the desire to enjoy. That ear ingot has a color that makes you fall in love, and the trotters, although they rebelled a little, look brutal both with the mushrooms and the potatoes. The important thing is that they ended up on the table… and well enjoyed!
A mini tip I want to share, also for @mercedesminayapalaciosgmail-com since I read that it happened to her too: when you assemble the ingot, you can add some of the collagen from the well reduced broth and press it while it is still warm. This way, when it cools down, it compacts better and does not fall apart when marking it.
would you like to try it again with this little trick? Thanks for also sharing these real processes, because that is the magic of cooking with heart. ❤️

Me encanta esa actitud.

Well, I’m with Sussan, it’s a great dish. It may not be as nice as you wanted it to be but it looks delicious😍.

😄 Thank you for sharing this “off the record” treat from the #platingchallenge (which I remember you WON, let’s hope we don’t miss it haha). The manitas ingot has that rustic charm that screams homemade taste of the good stuff. Even if it was not compact, the texture is still very appetizing. Both presentation versions are honest and comforting. And hey… those browned potatoes look like they won’t leave a single one!

Definitely not a fail in my book, more like a delicious detour! Love that you still made the most of it at home.
