…well, the time has come for confessions, with the hasthag that @soldamiani has set for us. Disasters and failures in the kitchen are normal if you cook regularly… sometimes they are even epic. One of the most recent ones I remember, and of which I also have graphic proof, is the one with these cookies. For a recent cookie challenge, I set out to make some gingerbread cookies, with Anna Gordon’s recipe, from the American Cookies course. Here the result when they came out of the oven. Lesson learned: separate the dough balls further from each other or you’ll get a single giant cookie. #epicfail

The fact is that the cookie itself was good, and delicious… so with some cookie cutters with different shapes, I ended up making cookies and they were very nice.

beatriz, what a good confession and what a great attitude!
These types of “fails” are the ones that teach us the most (and make us laugh too!). That giant cookie is a classic and a clear proof that in baking, the centimeters of separation between balls count more than you think.

But the best thing is that, despite the unexpected result, you knew how to turn it around in a creative and positive way.

Besides, the important thing is that it tasted good, and that’s what really counts. I’m sure the resulting cookies turned out beautifully and with much more merit because of the story behind them.
And as you rightly say… if we bake often, #epicfails are part of the journey! 🙌

I could make 100% sure that everyone who has ever made cookies has faced an #epicfail like this. It’s happened to me, of course. The good thing is:
              (a) You were able to remedy it with no problems
              b) The cookie dough is so versatile that you can use it without hesitation in a base of an iced cake comes to mind, right? By crushing them, you have thousands of delicious possibilities.
              Thanks for sharing, Bea

Ah yes, the classic ‘one cookie to rule them all’ situation 😄 Happens to the best of us! At least they were delicious and turning it into a second round of cute cookies? Total comeback move!
