There is a saying in my town, referring to asparagus that says: “April ones for me, May ones for my master”. That means that those of May are no longer as tender or as good.

At the end of April my husband came home with this impressive bunch. I think it is the biggest of the season. Nearly twenty-five kilos !😱

I have the largest canned pickled asparagus in vinaigrette and the freezer full of raw ones.

I thought it would be the last one as I told him I didn’t want any from May and he has given away all the ones he brought later.

Today he came back with another big one and a bunch of wild flowers 🥰.

      Finally the season is over!!!🙌🎉🥳

Maloles, both bouquets are beautiful and what a nice gesture from your husband,I liked how you shared that tradition of your people about the asparagus, it is one of those phrases that stay in the memory. You can see the affection with which you live this season every year. I know there are many ways to prepare asparagus but …do you have a favorite recipe with asparagus that you like to prepare when you have so many.

        Thanks for sharing.❤️

How wise is the Spanish proverb 😂😂. No wonder you don’t know what to do with so many anymore. And how nice that, loaded with asparagus, you stop to pick flowers from the field to make you a little sprig ❤️

They’re already coming out of my ears. I was so calm and she shows up with another one. She has promised me that this is the last one, I think she brought the flowers as an excuse to let the asparagus in, hahahahahahahah.
When he picks flowers he leaves the bunch “stored” on the road and when he comes back he picks it up. One year they took it from him and he ran after a man who was carrying a sack on his back, but he did not give it back to him, he refused to show what was inside and of course there was no question of taking the sack 🤣🤣 You see, collateral damage that had the thing jajajajajajajajaj

@lanamihajlovic I am delighted and happy with my husband. He knows how much I love wildflowers and he always surprises me. Glad also that the asparagus season is finally over🙌❤.

what a marvel of history, harvest and love! 💚🌸 This double bouquet is pure seasonal poetry! And that preserve in vinegarette sounds like homemade liquid gold 🤤. Thank you for sharing with such generosity moments that go beyond the kitchen: this is also part of our Community.
congratulations on closing out the season in style! 🌿💫
