I’m catching up here, answering comments, looking at dishes… after a day out of communication and another one overwhelmed by work. I haven’t cooked anything… yesterday due to impossibility… all our food was tins of asparagus, sausages, sardines… I share with you a photo, from yesterday, when it was starting to get dark, with candlelight 😱.

beatriz! How valuable what you share…thank you for taking the time to write, especially after such a difficult day. How hard it must have been to be incommunicado and without power, yet you found a way to stay present in the community! That is greatly appreciated.

I send you a huge hug, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for continuing to add to this space, even when things get tough. ❤️

@sussan_scoolinaryteam had planned to cook a dish for the challenge that day, but nothing, it could not be. I watched the hours go by, and there was no light or phone coverage. And yes, I remembered Scoolinary… first thinking “I won’t be able to cook the potatoes I had planned”, then “I won’t be able to upload a post today”… but I admit that when I recovered the Internet (not the light) at 00:30, when I was already in bed listening to an old battery radio, and notifications started to arrive, among them the prize of the plating challenge… it was a huge joy 😊

We with solar lamps, thank goodness they were all charged, 3 or 4 days ago we charged them with USB port.

Fortunately we did not have to throw anything away.

@mercedesminayapalaciosgmail-com how nice, Mercedes. Yes, I think we’ve all learned some lesson…like that, try to keep things charged. I have one of those lamps too…but it was unloaded 😫. For me, I was a little overwhelmed not having much gas in the car. I had enough to go see my mom, who lives half an hour away, to check if she was ok. But I wouldn’t have had to make another trip

Preserves are good companions in these cases Beatriz. Thank goodness it’s all over now. Being incommunicado is the worst. And that helplessness of not being able to do anything.

Good thing you were able to take a picture to immortalize the moment. I couldn’t even do that, without a cell phone for the 21 hours that the blackout lasted at home. But in spite of everything, I’m glad it’s over😉🤗

@loles-mhotmail-com yes, at least he caught me with my cell phone 100% charged… although I couldn’t do anything with it, because there was neither network nor data… but well, at least some picture.
I usually have a well-stocked pantry, because my town is so small that it doesn’t even have a store, so it’s convenient to have some assortment. I learned that in Filomena, who had us incommunicado for more than a week… my goodness, we have been here for years… what a mess 😅😅

thank you for sharing this photo even in the middle of the total blackout! that you remembered to capture that moment and upload it, even with candles and preserves, says a lot: you have this Community well incorporated into your daily life, and that excites us a lot!

And now that you are reading us more calmly… tell us: how was the *Plating Challenge* achievement at home? We hope there was a standing ovation (even if it was with flashlights)! 🙌🐟✨

@undefined siii, I thought about the community many times, when I took the photo, when I saw that the day was going by and I could not upload any post…

I recovered internet on the mobile very late, more than 00:30 at night. I was already in bed, (I didn’t have heating either, so warm with the comforter is where better 🤣) listening to the news special on the radio on an old transistor, battery operated. And in between the emails, whatsapps and so on, I saw the notifications of the award. I jumped up and woke up my husband to tell him about it 😅😅 hahaha, but he wasn’t mad, he was very happy 😃

@undefined thanks, Lana. To tell you the truth, I’m not complaining. Yes, we were 23 hours without electricity, without phone line, without internet, without water, without heating… but at the end of the day I was at home (teleworking) with my husband and the dog. We spent the whole day together, talked a lot, read, listened to the radio, drank wine, looked for homemade water solutions. In good company, a can of asparagus or sardines is a great dinner 🥰.

@Beatriz Torija I totally understand you ☺️ I like that kind of spirit. And I’m like that whenever hard times come. I never look at what I don’t have, but what I have. We really are twin sisters 🤗❤️ Sending hugs…

P.S. Now I feel like going off the grid too 😂
