      Torrijas

I don’t know why I only make torrijas at Easter, if they are really good.

I made them from brioche, with milk infused with orange peel, lemon and a cinnamon stick.

Then I dipped them in egg and fried them in a frying pan.

I removed the excess oil and then I dusted them with cinnamon powder and sugar.

Afterwards everyone cleaned the dish if necessary even with their finger, they taste good and not too good hahahaaa.

Will I have to make more?

      I think so!

I not only made these, I made many more.

torrija that is not shared… is torrija that is lost! 😄 That layer of sugar and cinnamon has an irresistible visual crunch, and the browning is on point. Did you make the brioche yourself or was it purchased? Because that touch of bread makes ALL the difference. We love seeing the passion with which you bake-and that citrus peel detail… 👌
and of course you need to make more🍊🥰.

PS: I really liked the photo

what a delight to read your story and see those mouthwatering torrijas! 🍞✨ The combination of brioche with citrus infused milk and cinnamon is pure hug in dessert form. and that finish with sugar and cinnamon must have left everyone licking their chops as you told! I even imagined the “wiping the plate with your finger” moment – I totally get you! ☺️

Thanks for sharing your process so enthusiastically. One question I can’t resist asking: have you ever tried them stuffed, maybe with a bit of pastry cream or a soft confection? I think they might be an extra level of enjoyment for those who already love them just the way you make them.

Keep bringing us more ideas like this, because we here are fans of your torrijas and your energy to share! 🤗💛

@Sol Damiani, I didn’t make the brioche, a friend of mine made it for me, and I made her the torrijas, I really made a lot of torrijas.

            I made more than 40

              • How delicious! I love them in all their forms. With sugar and cinnamon, with wine and honey…

And although they would certainly be delicious at any time of the year, I’m glad they are in season, otherwise I would not fit through the door 😂😂.

They have turned out beautifully for you!!!

What a delicious torrijas Mercedes, they look great.

Nothing better than a good torrija and if it is accompanied by ice cream even better. Either way they are delicious

These sound absolutely irresistible — brioche, citrus, cinnamon… what’s not to love? 😍 No wonder the plate was wiped clean! Honestly, torrijas deserve a place year-round. Yes, you definitely have to make more! 😉
