      The Tree of Life

      #PlatingChallenge

      Profile: Amateur

Cream of vegetable cream, Roasted spun roasted pumpkin, Roasted pumpkin parmentier, Blackberry salt, Parsley oil powder, Freeze dried raspberry, Pedro Ximenez pearls and Dried flower petals.

My arboreal creation is a dish of total utilization with leftovers from other dishes. These days I barely have time to cook but there are always leftovers 😉.

The tree is a cream I made with the leftover vegetables from the Armonia dish (wild asparagus, cauliflower, romanesco, broccoli). I added cream, aove and cheese. The fruits are the roasted pumpkin parmentier that was also left over from the previous dish. It has cream, cheese, and some butter to give it a smooth texture.

At the base of the tree is a field of roasted pumpkin that I had frozen from a previous preparation and with which I made the parmentier. I tore it with my hands until I got that spun texture that simulates the forest floor. Some points of the parmentier simulating the fallen fruit already ripe.

Parsley oil powder: When I made the parsley oil for the Alma dish (the first one I presented for the challenge). The remains of the crushed parsley that were left over after straining, I dried them in the microwave between two pieces of paper and broke them up with my fingers until I got that particular texture.

While I was assembling it, I thought that the remains were seeds scattered by the wind, which could germinate and come back who knows in another form…

…And the tree of life bore its fruits when spring came…because life goes on in spite of everything🙌.

        what a beautiful presentation!

I thought it was great how you used ingredients you already had to bring to life something as visually powerful as that “Tree of Life”. you can tell there’s heart and thought behind every part of the dish! The idea of tearing the pumpkin to simulate the forest floor is great… And that parsley powder… What a great way to rescue what is usually thrown away! Have you tried it with other herbs too, like basil or mint? It could look super curious in desserts or cold dishes.

at what point did you realize you could turn scraps into such a poetic scene? Because that’s not just cooking, that’s telling a story with spoons and colors! ❤️

@sussan_scoolinaryteam Thank you Sussan. I think that these days in which I live by emotions are leading me to create dishes not to satisfy hunger but to heal the soul. And this challenge has come at the right time.

With the rest of the herbs I have not tried because it was an impulse before throwing away those leftovers. But now I will try it with everything, total costs nothing and the result can be great😉.

I’ll answer you soon today. I already had to be in bed, I have to get up early and I don’t know how the day will present itself.

          Good night❤

@loles-mhotmail-com Maloles, how beautiful everything you shared… your words touch as much as your dish. What a brave and sensitive way of cooking, letting your emotions find their place on the plate, not to fill the stomach, but to embrace the soul. That is a very powerful and deeply human thing to do.

I think it’s beautiful that this impulse not to throw something away ended in a creative discovery. Sometimes the most magical thing is born right there, in what others discard, isn’t it? And I’m glad to hear that you are going to continue exploring with other herbs, I’m sure beautiful combinations will come out.

Thank you also for answering even when you are tired or with your mind and heart full of many emotions. May you rest well tonight, and may tomorrow bring you just what you need, even if we don’t know yet how it will present itself. Here we continue, accompanying you from the kitchen and from the heart. ❤️

What an incredible creation—truly the Tree of Life! 🌱🍂 I’m in awe of how you’ve transformed leftovers into something so poetic and full of meaning. Every element seems carefully chosen to represent nature’s cycle—recycling, renewal, and rebirth. The use of roasted pumpkin in various forms, the parsley oil powder as seeds scattered by the wind—it’s as if you’ve captured the essence of life itself, in all its beauty and imperfection.

And the thought of these elements coming together in such a harmonious way, just like spring’s return… that’s absolutely magical. 🌸🌿 Your dish isn’t just a plate—it’s a story of transformation and continuity. It’s so inspiring to see how creativity thrives even in the busiest times. Bravo for turning leftovers into something that speaks to the soul! 👏

I am impressed to see how you have managed to make such a beautiful tree,

Everything so delicate in its process, so well explained and with a result of pure spectacle.

Long live the leftovers from the fridge so well used!

@undefined Thank you so much my friend. It was an impulse and I didn’t hesitate to get on it. It didn’t last long on the plate though 😅.

This Tree of Life is pure visual and emotional poetry 🌳✨ What a beautiful way to resignify leftovers: here there are no “leftovers”, there are “roots of creativity” blooming on the plate. Thank you for joining the #PlatingChallenge with such an intimate proposal full of symbolism – am I the only one who sees an entire ecosystem telling a story? Every texture is a season, every fruit a memory!

The detail of the parsley oil powder is a technical and poetic gem… did you realize that you have created a dish that speaks of sustainability, memory and rebirth all at once? 🌿

@undefined How glad I am that you like it and see all that in it. I don’t think I realized that much at the time. I just wanted to create something unique out of almost nothing. I wanted to disconnect and make that unique moment my own before going back to reality these days.
The thing is that after taking the photos, I ate it quickly, had a coffee and went to my mother’s side. I didn’t want it to spoil and end up in the trash 😌.
My husband didn’t even see it as it was hours before he came home. I think it was the fastest dish I’ve eaten in a long time and standing up! Can you believe it ?
But yes, it gave me energy for the rest of the day ☺️🤗

I don’t know what else to tell you, it’s amazing how you can transform leftovers from other dishes into a creation that is pure art. A plate transformed into a painting.
