Originating in Japan in the 1950s, Shabu Shabu is a dish consisting of boiling water that has been flavored with kombu seaweed (the natural version of monosodium glutamate) and tuna broth (Dashi). Shiitake mushrooms, Chinese cabbage, tofu, rice noodles and, as if it were fondue, pieces of meat and shrimp are added so that, when boiled, they are cooked and consumed like traditional fondue. At the bottom of the dish, it is customary to add ponzu (soy sauce flavored with citrus) and chives. It is also accompanied with sesame sauce but, with this diet that just won’t end, we didn’t put it on!

This Sunday we made it for lunch, no barbecue!

      ¡Buen Provecho!

¡Qué buena pinta tiene ese Shabu Shabu! 🤩
