      Tomato canning

      #TomatoChallenge

I’m really enjoying the Italian Cooking with Tomatoes course. I’m doing it in spurts. Even next to my mother’s bed while she sleeps. These days are being complicated but I take advantage of every little moment to lock myself in my kitchen.

My mother always made tomato preserve in summer, when it is in season in Spain and tomatoes taste like holy glory. She made it in August, in the middle of the patron saint festivities when the whole town was in the streets, enjoying the running of the bulls in the morning, the bullfights in the afternoon, and the berbenas in the evening when the fair was in full swing.

My siblings and I would tell her that she could wait a week until the festivities were over and rest those days and not be in the kitchen surrounded by tomatoes, jars and pots in a bain-marie, but she enjoyed it as much or more than those who were in the street.

Today, making this recipe I could not but remember those days. What a mess with so much tomato and I only made 1.5 kg!

I couldn’t take a proper picture but I don’t want to leave the post for tomorrow in case the day gets complicated or I can’t upload it. For now I share this photo that I took just when I was packing and if I can when I get back I will try to do something nicer.

I will tell you that this recipe has not only resulted in the canned product… but I will tell you about that another time 😎.

No sé si aguantaría mucho tiempo. Desando probar a ver .

          ¡Ánimo y gracias por compartir! 🧡
