Chirashi sushi is a traditional Japanese rice dish with various ingredients, such as fish, seafood and vegetables, served in a bowl. The word chirashi means “scattered” or “scattered” in Japanese, and refers to the way the ingredients are spread over the rice.

Chirashi is a very versatile dish that can be prepared with almost any ingredient. It is often served at special celebrations, such as Hinamatsuri or “girls’ day” on March 3. It is also a dish that can be prepared in a short time and use leftovers.

Seasoned sushi rice, sashimi, toasted black sesame seeds, vegetables, scallions, boiled eggs, mushrooms, fish roe, nori strips, soy sauce, wasabi.

If we approach fast food nowadays, we can find places specializing in Poke Bowls, which, having their origin in Hawaiian cuisine, are strongly influenced by the chirashi detailed above.

In this iteration, the chirashi we ate has rice prepared with rice vinegar, salt and sugar, tuna, salmon, U16 shrimp and a couple of U8 mega shrimp; I clarify that U followed by a number, conventionally indicates the number of shrimp that make up a pound, being 16 in the first detail and 8 in the second.

In the background the tablecloth that I use so much and that is my mother’s memory. I accept that I had promised not to put it any more but, with the hunger of the crowd, I could not change it.

      enjoy your meal!

I take this opportunity to apologize for the next two weeks that I will almost not participate; I am going on a cruise again.
