“A Pile-Dweller’s Treat” from the City Museum, Ljubljana.
I just spent Christmas in Slovenia, and the superb City Museum of Ljubljana was giving out recipe cards from five different epochs. This one is from prehistory, when hunter-gatherers lived in houses on stilts above the marshes.
The recipe calls for fresh seasonal herbs. For me right now that was basil, thyme, dill, oregano, parsley and mint. And instead of juniper berries I added barberries and rosehips to the raspberries.
The venison I am using this week is Saiga antelope, flash fried. I really liked the flavour combination, and I’m happy ancient Slovenians didn’t have boring dinners!

Qué idea más buena e interesante el del museo de Ljubljana, y qué listos eran ya los antiguos pobladores … con hierbas frescas, todo mejora ☺️
