Friendsmas dinner – taking part in sharing our Christmas. This is not a traditional South African Christmas dinner, but it does have some traditional elements.
Entree:
Spring onion and pepper rosti served with sour cream, carpaccio and fresh parsley. Served on a sweet dijon mustard spread.
Phyllo cup with rosemary and honey butter, served with brie, honey and figs.
Main:
Leg of lamb with roasting vegetables, cooked in pizza oven for 4 hours (husband’s speciality).
Homemade fresh bread
Watermelon and balsamic vinegar salad
German cucumber and mint salad
Dessert:
Cinnabons with coffee.
Drinks included a vanilla & rose gin cocktail. Made heart ice cubes with dried hibiscus and rose petals. Steeped vanilla and rose tea in water overnight with sugar. Added Inveroche Gin, steeped tea, rose ice, blueberries and cherries with a bit of sprite for sweetness – ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS.
Made a frappucino (latte coffee on ice with condenced milk and honey).
