      Celebration Chocolate Scroll

At the last Chocolate Challenge, my “drunken” roll was born. At first, it was just a game… a few spoons of liqueur in the sponge, a small provocation for the palate. I never imagined that this creation, born out of curiosity and a desire to give chocolate a new dimension, would travel beyond the challenge itself. But dishes, like words, often find their own paths.

A friend who tasted the roll said, half-jokingly, half-seriously: “Oh, I wish you’d make me one for my birthday.” I didn’t forget. And today, on her birthday, her roll arrived.

This time I didn’t want to repeat the recipe, but to turn it into a new poem. The sponge, warmed by a touch of liqueur, was like the opening verse. Inside, a dialogue of chocolates unfolded… dark with its bitterness, white with its soft comforts, cream to reconcile them, and almonds whispering in a crunchy rhythm. Instead of glazing it, I dressed the roll in handmade chocolate decorations, to give the day its sense of celebration, and my friend the feeling of being truly special.

When she opened the door, she smiled the way someone smiles when they never expect to be truly heard. In that smile there was more than gratitude, there was recognition. Because even though her request had been a passing remark, today she held proof that sometimes even casually spoken words find their way to the heart.

The challenges we take on at Scoolinary Academy do not stay within the walls of the community… they flow into everyday life, into small rituals, into friendships.
