      The Spiral of Flavor

      Sometimes food is born from the play between warmth and crispness, between olive oil melting into the dough and sesame seeds whispering their bittersweet story. In this spiral, puff pastry becomes a book, each layer a page, each crust a tale.

      Inside, life in full rhythm: spicy minced meat breathing fire, roasted mushrooms with wine bringing the depth of darkness, and between them two layers of gouda, like bridges of light holding everything together in harmony.

      When sliced, the loaf reveals an inner landscape… layers not fighting, but dancing. Every note seeks its neighbor, and together they sound like a symphony.

      And on the side, the Russian salad, a contrast. Cool, creamy, with tiny cubes of vegetables, like a mosaic reminding us that even in the simplest shapes lies endless variety.

      I prepared it for dear friends, guests from Croatia. Their arrival carried the scent of old memories and the warmth of shared roots. Food became a bridge, not only between flavors, but between places and hearts.

          Thank goodness for close-ups — this is exactly the kind of dish that deserves to be seen up close, where every flake, seed, and melted edge draws you in.

          The golden crust looks perfectly baked, and that filling… rich, generous, and clearly balanced con mimo. The contrast with the creamy salad is spot on — fresh, crunchy, cool — a clever move to break the intensity.
