Hi Nicola!
Jang is a Korean word used to refer to several fermented condiments that are very common in Korean cooking. They’re made from soybeans, salt, and sometimes other ingredients like rice or chili, and are left to ferment over time.
The most well-known types are:
-Doenjang: a fermented soybean paste with a strong flavor.
-Ganjang: Korean soy sauce.
-Gochujang: a fermented red chili paste that’s spicy and slightly sweet.
These condiments add a lot of flavor to dishes and also help with digestion thanks to the fermentation.
