Goan-Style Garlic Pickle Fish Curry
Goan fish curry is one of the signature dishes of Goa, a coastal state in western India with strong Portuguese and Konkan influences. Freshly caught fish is simmered in a tangy, spiced sauce typically made with coconut, and chilies. The dish reflects Goa’s history as a spice trade hub, blending Indian aromatics with Portuguese-introduced ingredients like vinegar. Served with steamed rice, it is a staple everyday meal for many Goan families, balancing richness from coconut with a bright sourness that complements the abundance of seafood along the Arabian Sea coast.
Garlic Pickle is a medium heat, delicious blend of garlic with aromatic spices including turmeric, paprika, raisins, dates, chile pepper, and ginger. It gives this dish a huge flavor boost.

Looks like today is definitely fish day in our community 😄🐟 What a vibrant Goan curry you’ve plated! The balance between the golden sauce, fluffy rice and those pops of fresh garnish makes it so inviting. How spicy did you decide to go with the garlic pickle twist?

@soldamiani I have been making very spicy dishes lately, so my wife asked me to tone this one down. It was just medium spicy.
