Today, I ended one of the most toxic relationships of my life… with potatoes. Yes, you read that right. No fries, no mash, no roasties lounging around like VIP guests. Today is detox day from that starchy love.
For the main course, chicken breast. I breaded it in panko crumbs mixed with sesame seeds and parmesan, because life’s too short to eat boring breaded chicken. Crispy, aromatic, just enough to soothe the soul that’s crying out for potatoes.
And as a side… Tarator salad. Cucumber, garlic, sour cream, olive oil, and a pinch of salt. Refreshing and shamelessly simple. Greece would cry tears of joy.
Anyway, I told the potato: “It’s not you, it’s me. I just need some space.”

Jajaja, mi mente sigue pensando en recetas con patatas, ¡nos va a costar cambiar el chip!
Ese platillo que has preparado hoy tiene aspecto de sencillo y maravilloso homenaje. 👏

😂 “We need to starch seeing other people…” OKAY, that line in the end cracked me up out loud—thank you for this hilarious breakup announcement!
Now let’s talk about that plate: the golden crust on your chicken looks amazing—crispy, evenly browned, with that lovely touch of sesame and parmesan magic. It’s giving texture, flavor, and serious comfort. And the tarator on the side? Creamy, cool, and the perfect yin to the chicken’s yang. Have you ever tried adding a dash of lemon zest or some fresh herbs to the salad for an extra lift?
Thanks for sharing this soulful (and potato-free!) creation with us 😄
By the way… what ingredient are you crushing on now that potatoes are out of the picture? 😍Or are you “sharpening” your bowls for the next challenge already?

@Sol Damiani Hahaha, I knew you’d appreciate a good starchy breakup! As for your hunch… of course I’m already sharpening my bowls for the next challenge! You know me… I barely washed the last fork and I’m already plotting the next kitchen experiment.
While potatoes are on a break (it’s more of a “see you when you’ve changed” situation), I’m flirting with cauliflower, carrots, nettle and occasionally having neutral-ground meetups with sweet potato. Love is complicated.
I’m ready for the next round, as long as there’s no emotional onion-peeling involved!

@lanamihajlovic Promise, no onion peeling in the next challenge 🙌

@Sol Damiani P.S. Tarator definitely enjoys the company of lemon zest and fresh herbs. I’m thinking of adding a bit of dill or mint next time to give it that “spa day” vibe. 🤗

@lanamihajlovic Absolutely love that idea! Dill or mint would take Tarator to a whole new level—like a chilled-out vacation in a bowl. 🌿✨ That “spa day” vibe is exactly the energy we’re here for. Can’t wait to hear how it turns out!

I feel you, my friend I’m in the same situation. I have to confess I also have a toxic love for potatoes, haha. But this time, we’ve taken a break… though I know we’ll meet again someday.
Now I feel like I’m in a culinary romantic comedy, haha. You really made me smile with that dramatic yet funny goodbye. And that breaded chicken… it looks golden, crispy, and with that touch of sesame, I bet it smells amazing. The Tarator salad on the side gives it such a fresh vibe,I can imagine how well it pairs with the crunchiness of the chicken.
Was it hard for you to let go of the potatoes, or was it a clean break?

@Sussan Estela Olaya Sussan, my dear, I’m so glad I’m not the only one in this toxic relationship with potatoes. It’s like a telenovela, just with more carbs!
And yes, we’re “on a break” for now, but I know one day it’ll look at me all golden and roasted from the oven… and everything will get blurry for me.
For now, I’m trying to stay strong and embrace other veggies. Though I admit, I occasionally walk past the potato section at the store, just to see if it misses me.
As for the breakup… hmm, let’s just say it wasn’t clean, but at least it wasn’t mashed!

@lanamihajlovic Lana, you really made me laugh! That story with the potatoes deserves its own show — 🗣️📞 Hello Netflix, I’ve got a great story for you… 🍿🎥
I totally support you in this brave breakup… though I’ll admit, I’d probably fall for those golden roasted potatoes too 🤤. Stay strong, sister! Don’t give in to their tempting smell, soft texture, rich flavor, and those crispy edges haha.1-

@Sussan Estela Olaya Imagine, Maloles said I should write a book, and in the end the first book is about toxic love with potatoes 😂 And the story begins… It all started when I entered the Scoolinary Academy… 😂 And then a documentary on Netflix where they have an interview with me, the potato and all of you as witnesses 😂 I think it’s time to go to bed to sleep…this story has gotten out of hand 😂😂😂

@lanamihajlovic Hahaha, this already smells like a bestseller! I can totally see the title: “Love for the Tuber: A Story of Skin and Starch.” And of course, we all make it into the documentary as key witnesses of this intense relationship… Lana and the potato, forever! Thanks for the laughs, sweet dreams, and may you not dream of mashed potatoes!😄

@Beatriz Torija Beatriz, your words are like a warm bowl of mashed potatoes after a bad day… comforting, soft, and full of understanding!
You know, I tried to stay cool… but as soon as I saw potato salad on someone else’s plate, my eyes started to water.
And yes, I admit, I haven’t thrown away the peeler or the masher. I’ve just… temporarily hidden them. Maybe one day I’ll forgive them and let them back into the kitchen drawer.
Until then, I’ll stick with crispy chicken, tarator, and your support… because nothing warms the soul like a friend who knows that potatoes deserve a second chance!
