Who is Ignacio Ussía?

Creative cocktail maker who uses high-level techniques to develop his work.

Ignacio Ussía is a cocktail and pastry chef. He was born in Barcelona in 1985. He began his studies at ESHOB (Escola Superior d'Hostaleria de Barcelona) to embark on his career in the emblematic Barcelona restaurant Via Veneto and Ideal Cocktail Bar, two Barcelona classics.

At only 27 years old, already trained as a professional bartender, he undertook a new personal and professional challenge traveling to Thailand where he landed in the Gaggan restaurant as Bar Manager. In this charismatic restaurant in Bangkok, Ignacio developed a cocktail bar of the highest level, for the most demanding palates and tastes. For four years Gaggan is the best restaurant in Asia and is in Top 10 worldwide in the prestigious list of The World's 50Best, there Ussía opened his mind to the infinite possibilities offered by the world of cocktails.

During those years, he also took the opportunity to conduct several masterclasses around the world. But his desire to excel and his eagerness for creativity made him return to Barcelona, the city where he was born as a person and as a professional, to learn pastry at the Hofmann School and to undertake his dream of opening his own shop: The Alchemix. In a short time, it has become the best restaurant cocktail bar in Spain. In 2021 they have been awarded by the Coaster Awards as Best Restaurant with Cocktail Bar.
