Beef Crescent Moons

Profile: AmateurFor this Folding Challenge, I wanted to play with something familiar yet a bit whimsical – little crescent moons made from flaky puff pastry, each one filled with a warm and comforting mix of ground beef, carrots and mushrooms. It’s the kind of filling that feels honest and homey, slow-cooked just enough to bring out its sweetness and depth.
Puff pastry gives that delicate, crisp bite and those golden layers that open up like pages of a story. As each crescent was shaped, the fold became a small ritual.
Inside, the filling stayed juicy: sautéed onions, mushrooms for earthiness, carrots for gentle sweetness, and seasoned beef tying everything together. Once baked, each crescent carried that lovely contrast between flaky pastry and tender center.
I served them with a mustard-and-honey sauce, a bright, tangy-sweet note that lifts the richness and gives every bite a little spark.
